Match Movement-Service Tools to the Actual Interface
Choose the part being worked on, the contact that acts on it and the separate support it needs; similar tool names and diameter labels do not make a service system.
| Example or format | Useful choice | Check before choosing |
|---|---|---|
| BONKZEBU staking set / Waymil anvil | Guided frame and punches versus a separate perforated support | 50 punches and 10 stakes in the frame kit; anvil holes/slots do not supply a guided mechanism. |
| Horotec MSA02.030 / Buachois | Slide lock versus two screw-collet ends | Horotec opening 0–1.5 mm; Buachois continuous 0–3 mm range is not established. |
| FOSA / KiBcsLic 3007 | Different bench clamping contacts | FOSA 0.2–1.5 mm is a support-hole range; no shared block capacity. |
| Bergeon 4072 /7995 | Hairspring holding versus balance-cock/spring support | 105 mm is the 4072 tool length, not an opening or assembly-fit range. |
| lvifloae / Bergeon 31409 / GUHOFIND | Internal arbor winding, external crown winding and barrel-cover closure | Three separate roles; 31409 opening 2.5–10 mm applies to crown contact. |
| CCZKXZXY stem cutter | Seller-described winding-stem shortening | Yellow rubber grips/end-head geometry; metal, hardness and maximum cutting diameter are unspecified. |
| SmaSoHard KD89 | Cannon-pinion removal | Seller 1.2–1.8 mm pinion label; the 4854 reference alone does not establish Bergeon manufacture. |
| Beco Technic 31408 / Horotec MSA02.221 / TAURISH holder | Cutting, smoothing and supporting are separate roles | Twelve tapered cutting broaches versus six handled smoothing broaches; the fixture does not cut. |
| Bergeon 6892 | Moon-phase correction through the watch’s specified interface | No universal watch fit or correction schedule. |
Specify the working part before the tool family
Movement service contains many separate operations. A staking frame guides working tools; a pin vise grips a part or tool shank; a hand fixture supports a workpiece; a cutter or broach acts on it. Start by naming the actual component and operation, then identify the receiving shank, bearing contact and support requirement. A shared word such as press, vise or winder is not a complete specification.
This guide compares the documented interfaces rather than a universal service procedure. A supported tool can still need a separately chosen accessory, and a support is not an equivalent to its working implement. Keep that distinction when comparing complete systems with single blocks or fixtures.
Choose guided staking or support-only equipment
BONKZEBU itemizes a frame, fifty punches, ten stakes, a base and sponge. It is the complete guided arrangement to compare when those working and support roles are missing. The frame is described as aluminum alloy, while other material names apply to the kit as a whole; do not assign one alloy to every punch or stake. Check the actual shank, guide bore and bearing contact needed for the job.
Waymil is a separate hardened-steel anvil with fifteen holes and five slots. Its stated hole range is 3/64–1/4 in, with rounded 1.2–6.4 mm also supplied by the seller. Choose it for the required support opening, not as a replacement guided frame or punch assortment. The source does not establish that this standalone anvil fits BONKZEBU’s receiver.
Decide whether the held part moves with the hand or stays at the bench
Horotec MSA02.030 is a handheld slide-locking chuck with a 0–1.5 mm opening and nickel-plated handle. Buachois instead uses screw-on caps at both ends and removable collet pieces. Its 0–3 mm title label is not corroborated as a continuous range: the detailed ranges are not assigned consistently to ends or constructions. Select the actual shank contact and lock arrangement rather than the largest headline number.
FOSA provides desktop split-plate fixation for hands, wheels and pin tubes, with a 0.2–1.5 mm support-hole range in a 5.5 × 2.5 × 2.3 cm body. KiBcsLic 3007 is a compact screw-closing multi-hole block without a hole-size schedule. Those are conditional workholding comparisons, not the same jaw travel or a shared mounting system. Confirm the actual workpiece contact and bench attachment.
Distinguish a hairspring contact from assembly support
The Bergeon 4072 is specifically offered for holding hairsprings. Its 105 mm length and listed stainless steel describe the tool, while opening and grip force are not supplied. Choose by the actual contact required on the part rather than borrowing the Horotec chuck’s opening specification.
The 7995 instead positions a balance-cock with its balance spring during corrections. It supports the assembly rather than gripping the spring alone. Its plastic-and-metal list does not allocate each material to a particular contact. Select the actual assembly support and clearance required; neither this support nor a general pin vise is an established substitute for the 4072’s contact.
Keep the three winding and barrel roles separate
The lvifloae manual set lists ten arbors and brass mainspring winders in a bamboo storage box. The grouped movement labels are a starting check, not a one-to-one assignment of all ten arbors. Match the exact arbor configuration and required winding direction. The bamboo describes storage, not the working interface.
Bergeon 31409 acts on an external crown through an elastomer insert in an anodized-aluminum body, with a 2.5–10 mm opening label. GUHOFIND’s plastic tool instead fits a barrel cover onto its drum. Crown winding, internal mainspring winding and barrel-cover closure are not substitutions for one another; the latter two may be separate barrel-service roles only after each exact contact is matched. An external case-back press is a different tool again.
Separate cutting and pulling from the holder
CCZKXZXY explicitly offers the yellow plier for shortening winding stems. Its rubber-covered handles, visible spring and end-mounted cutting faces describe the handling format. No maximum diameter, metal or hardness capacity is supplied. The nominal 103 × 72 × 22 mm envelope carries a seller±1–3 cm allowance; it is neither cutting capacity nor a precise storage specification. A pin vise is only a separately matched holding complement.
SmaSoHard KD89 is a wooden-handled lever for cannon-pinion removal, with a 140 mm length and 1.2–1.8 mm seller pinion-fit label. Its pictured separate collet needs package confirmation. The description’s 4854 reference is not proof of Bergeon manufacture, and a watch-hand remover acts on a different component. Match the actual pinion contact rather than a similar puller name.
Choose the broaching operation and its separate support
Beco Technic 31408 supplies twelve tapered steel cutting broaches with square cutting edges and a 0.05–0.55 mm stated range. Horotec MSA02.221 supplies six handled smoothing broaches at 0.40, 0.60, 0.80, 1.00, 1.20 and 1.40 mm. Cutting and smoothing are different operations; the two ranges are not interchangeable finished-hole specifications.
TAURISH’s two-plate fixture opens by squeezing its ends and supports watch hands during separately matched broaching or drilling. It supplies no broach assortment, and its receiving-hole sizes are not given. Treat it as a complementary support, not a cutting or smoothing tool. For the separate external adjustment role, Bergeon 6892 is offered for moon-phase correction on triple-calendar watches: the actual watch interface and correction instructions still govern that choice.
Questions before you choose
Which size should I match to the part?
The dimension of the actual receiving or working contact: a chuck opening, support hole, arbor, crown contact or broach working size. Tool length, outside block size and a model label are not substitutes for those dimensions. For example, FOSA’s 0.2–1.5 mm is a support-hole range, while 4072’s 105 mm is tool length.
Can one winder or press cover the whole mainspring job?
The documented roles are separate. lvifloae uses internal arbors, 31409 contacts the external crown, and GUHOFIND closes the barrel cover. Select each required interface independently; no shared capacity or universal paired procedure is supplied.
Do I need the hand-holding fixture as well as the broaches?
Only if the actual work needs that support and the hand/contact fits it. The TAURISH fixture holds; Beco’s assortment cuts; Horotec’s handled assortment smooths. None establishes a guaranteed shared setup or finished-hole result from the size labels alone.
